Pipes are branched into different directions by means of various types of pipe fittings such as tees but one problem encountered during the use of equal tees is that the dimensions of the pipes to be connected need not always be of the same diameter. To tackle this problem, we have unequal tees, with branching ends having openings of different diameters to match the dimensions of the pipes to be fitted. Apart from the additional feature provided by the unequal tees they perform the two fundamental functions of conjugating the main pipe with the branching pipes and consequently change the direction of the flow, at an angle perpendicular to the flow in the primary pipe.

The Inconel unequal tees are equipped with a thicker size so as to provide them with the strength to withstand the pressure changes occurring within the piping system which is usually accompanied by the change in direction of the flow. Apart from this feature, the tees are usually made up of a smooth inner wall to maintain the normalcy of pressure within the pipes. The toughness of the super duplex steel is accompanied by the resistance properties it displays such as the excellent corrosion resistance property against chemicals such as acids, organic liquids, gases, or just atmospheric corrosion. The tees are resistant to both pitted as well as crevice corrosion and possess the ability to protect themselves against the harmful effect of chlorides and sulfides. The thermal resistivity of the unequal tees is worth mentioning here since it enables them to function even in soaring temperature conditions.
