304 stainless steel pipe fittings are also known as connectors used in order to channelize the liquid, to extend the pipe etc. 304 stainless steel is the most common and dominant material in market currently which is used almost everywhere and by every possible means. It consists of 18% chromium and 8% nickel normally having 0.08% carbon. It is corrosion resistant in many different environments and that’s one of the reason for its demand and popularity in market. Also it has great drawability and can be shaped in wide range. Due to these properties of 304 stainless steel it is suitable for fulfilling purposes in fermentation vats, storage tanks, yeast plants etc.
304L stainless steel pipe fittings are the products containing 18-20% of chromium, 8-12% of nickel and 0.03% of carbon maximum. It has slight but noticeable difference than standard 304 stainless steel. The UTS of SS 304L is around 85 ksi. Yield strength of SS 304L is around 35 ksi. 304L’s lower carbon content plays a great role in minimizing carbide precipitation while welding process. This leads to the higher chances of survival of 304L products even when the environments are severely corrosive.
304H stainless steel pipe fittings are the materials with high carbon content mostly used at high temperatures. It is commonly dual certified as SS 304 and SS 304H. having chromium 18-20% nickel 08-10.50% and carbon 0.04/0.10%. it’s greater carbon content delivers higher tensile and yield strength. It is also considered as one of the economical alloy for corrosion resistance which is suitable for wide range of applications for general purpose. It has a great ease of fabrication and a good formability which helps in shaping the material as per requirements. Due to these properties it is one of the highly demanded product in market.
